PRACTICAL BEGIN


Hello and Greeting one Malaysia!
Frstly, i want to introduce myself.  My name is Halimatus Saadiah Che Yahya and I am from Kuala Lumpur. I am currently undergraduate student from Kolej Poly-Tech Mara and currently taking BSc (Hons) in Business Information Technology. with International Business Collaboration with Coventry University, UK, and in 3rd year. Before i have to complete the study, i must complete the industrial training to fulfill the requirement of MQA (Malaysian Qualifications Agency). After that I will earn the Degree title.
I am currently on the Summer Placement programme as a Web Designer with Application and Web Development Unit at JKR (Jabatan Kerja Raya) Malaysia head office in Jalan Sultan Salahuddin Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
On the first day, I had been in an interview with the head of the information technology division En. Ahmad bin Daud. He asks about me and the areas I learned. After that, he gave the order (memo) to the assistant of the head of the IT division, Madam Ng Siew Lan then the assistant pass me to a supervisor which is Madam Hanifarhana Binti Hushin Amri who responsible to supervise and guide me in this undergoes industrial training. The task he gave me is to design a website for the Information Technology Division. Besides, I was assisted by a practical student studying in diploma in the field of programming, Polytechnics Seberang Perai.
The purpose me to attend the industrial training is to;
  1.  Gain more experience in work environment
  2.  Learn the work process in technical way
  3.  To practice in the field for my future employment

First Day!! I entered the Jabatan Kerja Raya Malaysia for undergo industrial training.


This organization use fingerprint as tools to confirmed the attendance of the workers.

Welcome to PWD Malaysia. As the technical arm of the Government of Malaysia, PWD acts as the main implementing agency in carrying out development projects throughout the country. Also, there are four services category that offered by JKR which are;  the public,staffs, the consultants and the contractors. For the consultants and contractors there are information such as tender notices and technical publications. For the public, will give the latest information on any unforeseen eventuality such as landslides, floods.

JKR provide the website to give all the latest updates about their services. The Director General  hope users will find this site informative and easy to navigate. If  do have any enquiry or complain, please do feel free to contact JKR. DG's welcome any feedback and constructive suggestions for the betterment of the department in order to provide better service to people that are need help.
JKR Malaysia is not just the largest government technical department but also aspires to be the best implementation agency in the country. JKR hope to serve the clients better through the continuous improvement in whatever the teams do.

These units are maintained by different officers so easily resolved if they have problems.

 1.0 Aim
The purpose of this report is to describe briefly about Web development for Information Technology Division.

2.0 Introduction

This website was developed for use by all employees of Public Work Department especially at Information Technology Division. This website may help users to obtain general information and entertainment provided on the website.

3.0  Mission Statement
The IT Division mission is to improve the sharing of technical information through a website that would help the personnel of Information Technology Division perform their daily task.This information would also help officers from other units to learn about the work processes carried out by Information Technology Division. The website will be another medium for communication.

Vision Statement
To improve the achievement of objectives and modern Malaysian Public Works Department through the provision of infrastructure and support facilities, equipment, software and IT use in accordance with government requirements.

4.0  Problem Statement
There is a need to improve the sharing of information, communication across the units, and section in the Information Technology Division. Currently, this division has no website that mediates for notification of any information or updated information to employees. Therefore, a website needs to be developed to overcome this problem. 
  •  Ineffective communication using virtual elements across the units.
  •       Less sharing of technical information.
  •       Scheduling of time
5.0  Objectives
  •       To inform and accumulate information.
  •      To provide technical information such as documentation and work procedures,that    
  •       the officer can use for everyday tasks.
  •       To ensure that the information is current and reasonably updated
     6.0  Audiences
    -          All JKR staffs in Malaysia.

    Week 2
    Specify Detail Requirement
    • Decide and install the software to be used in this project
    There are some problems to determine the use of software to perform web development as there is a weakness that lack of skills and expertise to use new software that used by web developers. And the installation find by own initiative and it takes time to installing the new software. 
    • Study the software (Drupal software)

    WEEK 3 and 4 - 21/1/2013-3/2/2013 (STUDY DRUPAL & JOOMLA) also Construct The Gantt Chart


    Interviews and distribute questionnaire to all heads of unit


    • Gathering information from respondents.
    • To help me define the details of each units.
    • Also complete the details of content for insert in I.T Division website.
    • To get reliability of data.
    STUDY ABOUT  DRUPAL and JOOMLA.
    I go to the library to find the book regarding the Drupal software.
    When I entered the library. There are a few steps to find the books.


     
     

    Below shows a few books that I have found and they are relate with software that I want to use. Other than that, the environment of the libarary is very calm and peaceful.

    Security
    • Drupal.org provides Security announcement mailing list and a history of all security advisories.  As well as an RSS feed with the most recent security advisories.
    Maintenance
    •  It provide Drupal core. Which is a Bug fix (not just bug  reports), more maintenance releases will be made available.
    • For example, rework theme filter tips to use the new attributes, and call theme.
    Update notes
    • Has front end only. The function is multifunction which is to  edit and manage the template.     
    • Interface easily. Drupal 7 makes a change to the Update Manager module to allow Drupal.org to collect usage statistics for individual modules and themes.

    WEEK 5 and 6 - 4/2/2013-17/2/2013 (Design, Implementation and Testing Phase)

    Design the external wireframe
    • Design  homepage according to external wireframe.

    Implementation Phase
    Implementation phase is stage to implementing the website. This is occurring after design the external wireframe of the website. The external wireframe follow Pekeliling Am Bilangan 1 Tahun 2006. Pengurusan Laman Web/Portal Sektor Awam and the design approved by my supervisor. 
    Other than that, this Implementation and Unit Testing phase which on receiving system design documents, the work is divided in modules/units and actual coding is started. The system is first developed in small programs called units, which are integrated in the next phase. Each unit is developed and tested for its functionality; this is referred to as unit testing. Unit testing mainly verifies if the modules/units meet their specifications.
